Healthy Kids Grants
Healthy Kids Grants
Kids today are faced with an enormous stress that many older people never had to experience. The world today is quite a different place. Today's kids are frequently forced to make difficult choices and it's no wonder that they sometimes need a helping hand from a generous and caring adult.
There are resources designated to help children make good decisions about their lives and get the experience and support they need to succeed. Many of these resources are provided by non-profit and charitable organizations as well by some government agencies.
Grants for Kids’ Success in Life
The World We Want Foundation is a philanthropic organization that aims to help young people effect change in their communities. It is actually a crowd-funding platform which enables donors to choose a Young Global Citizen's project to which they want to contribute. 100% of the donors' contributions goes to the implementation of the project itself. The organization also provides the students with mentors and guidance to be sure the project can be successful.
There are also programs that help children learn to be entrepreneurs. One of the surest paths to financial freedom can be owning a business, and children are eager to learn how to be their own boss. Often the deciding factor between a successful adult and an unsuccessful one is the fact that one received an opportunity to succeed, and one did not. Teaching entrepreneurship skills at a young age can enable children to find those opportunities on their own. The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship focuses particularly on underprivileged youth and gives them the training and the tools necessary to create their own careers.
The Free Child Project posits that young people want to help improve their communities and make a lasting change in the world, but they lack the knowledge and resources to do so. The organization offers training and workshops. It also facilitates the partnering of older mentors with younger activists. And it helps locate and secure funding for these youth-led projects.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers short term, low-interest loans to youths involved in supervised projects with an outfit like 4-H. In this Youth Farmers and Ranchers program kids get loans of several thousand dollars or more to do things like buy, raise and care for cattle. They then sell the cattle and pay back their loan, probably with some profit for themselves. So they learn something about farming as well as about the business of farming.
Educational Assistance for Kids
Many kids want to go to college but their family circumstances make it unaffordable. Today there are more and more ways for students to find the money they need. Pell Grants, offered by the federal government, are one of the oldest and best-known forms of financial aid for college expenses, but there are others.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is another aid package that is offered based on financial need. Funded by the government, the money is awarded through the school itself on a first-come basis.
The Federal TEACH grant is called an award-for-service program. In return for providing financial assistance for your education, you commit to teaching for a specified period of time in a high-need area.
Grant award-for-service programs have also been created for other high-demand occupations such as nursing and primary-care physicians. Many of these programs are funded by under-served or rural communities. They will fund a student's education in return for a commitment to serve in that community after graduation.
While grants and scholarships are the best kind of aid because they do not have to be paid back, loans are available as well. Students should be sure to seek out and apply for every single grant and scholarship for which you are eligible, and explore every alternative funding opportunity that you can.
All these grants and resources apply for kids with Autism as well as for kids diagnosed with ADHD.
